Clarence Road has been converted into a temporary ‘safe street’ (i.e. no car traffic) at school drop-off and pick-up times (during term time only). Brent has classified this as an ‘emergency’ project, so it is going ahead without the usual consultation. However, comments are welcome via the link below during the 6-month trial phase.
BRAT is in favour of the scheme in principle, but it is important to keep an eye on how it works in practice. For instance, Christ Church School is responsible for putting out and taking away the barriers (cones) each day, and manning them. Perhaps concertina-style barriers (as used in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea) manned by Brent staff would represent a better system / use of resources?
